A total of 2,341 schools in India and abroad are affiliated to CISCE for the ICSE exams. In 2020, a total fo 2,07,902 candidates appeared for ICSE exams. Of these 2.06 lakh had cleared the exam. Among students who cleared the ICSE 2020, as many as 95,234 were girls and 1,11,588 were boys.
Would class 10 exams be postponed?
Following the decision of CBSE, several state boards have also decided to cancel their class 10 board exams. Going by the trend, it seems that CISCE too would cancel the class 10 exams, however, an official statement is awaited.

CBSE Effect: MPBSE exams now in June
The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has announced to postpone board exams by a month on Wednesday as COVID-19 is spreading at a rapid pace in the state. The exams were scheduled to start from April 30 and May 1 for classes 10 and 12 but now they will be conducted in June
Will the delay impact new academic session?
The delay is expected to impact the new academic session, however, in an earlier statement, CISCE had said, "Please be informed that the two matters (202 exams and 2021 academic session) are unrelated. Without a doubt, the schedule for ICSE and ISC 2021 exams will not take place at regular time in February or March, given the pandemic situation in the country. The dates for the exam will be announced later, at an appropriate time. However, the start the academic year in 2021-22 for all council-affiliated schools will remain the same as in previous years."
CISCE Exam Pattern Changed
CISCE had introduced a 20 marks project work for English and mathematics from the ISC year 2020 exam. CISCE now decided to introduce the same for ISC 2021 as well. The earlier pattern of 100 marks question paper for English and mathematics will be replaced with two components in each section including 80 marks theory paper and 20 marks project work.
IB Board Cancels Class 10, 12 Board Exams
International Baccalaureate has decided to cancel the board exams in India. Students, however, will be promoted to the next class or be eligible to receive the school passing certificate based on a special assessment system. Students will be marked based on their coursework and predicted grades.
How many students will be impacted by the decision?
Nearly three lakh students register CISCE board exams every year. This includes both class 10 and 12 students. Earlier, the CISCE had postponed its board exams to be held in April-May, after CBSE had revised its date sheet. The academic session is being postponed due to the pandemic. Most of the classes for 10th and 12th students were held online as schools across states had remain shut due to the pandemic.
CISCE Adopted Unique Assessment Scheme in 2020
In 2020 Board Exams, CISCE had adopted a unique assessment scheme as exams could not be held for all subjects due to the pandemic. CISCE's new assessment scheme included three parameters -- (i) an average of a student’s best three papers marks in CISCE board examination, (ii) subject project, and (iii) percentage of subject internal assessment for class 10 or project and practical work for class 12.
How does CBSE board exams impact CISCE?
The decision to postpone CBSE class 12 and cancel class 10 board exams was taken by the government. While making the announcement, the minister of education said, "Unlike State Boards, CBSE has an all-India character, and therefore, it is essential to hold exams simultaneously throughout the country". This rile applies to CISCE as well, considering it too is a national board having schools across the country.

CISCE is reconsidering its decision to hold board exams. The class 10 exams are to be begun from May 4 while two papers for class 12 have been held already. The main exams for class 12 students too are likely to start from May. However, the schedule can be disrupted because of the rising cases of COVID-19. The pandemic has forced govt to defer CBSE class 12 exams and cancel class 10 exams.
